To all the Out of the Box Brides!

I am getting excited for the OOTB Bridal Show that is fast approaching. This will be my 4^th show to participate in where I am the exclusively featured florist. I wanted to come up with something a little different this show and felt that I should choose a theme relevant to what is currently popular. I started thinking about what I had been hearing about and seeing on TV. One thing popped into my head: Think Green!

I’m not jumping on the bandwagon for popularity sake but I have started incorporating eco friendly design into my business. At first it was inadvertent, mainly to save myself and my customers money. I have been using recyclable materials such as bamboo and moss in my centerpieces and displays. I am also using recycled ribbon and wire. These design elements have helped me stay on budget and on time as well as help me create less waste. I think that everyone will enjoy the designs that me and my team have come up with.

We are running a special promotion at this OOTB that we have never done before. The first 40 “florist-less”  brides- to- be that stop by our table at the show can pick up an envelope that contains free stuff for her wedding. The envelope can be redeemed when you meet with a designer and book Fleur Du Jour, LLC, to see what’s inside. You could win a free toss bouquet, free bridal portrait bouquet, free boutonierres, etc., etc.  I just love surprises!

Now I have to get back to coming up with some unique arrangements for the show! I hope to see you there.

SophistiCAKES! is adding a personalized touch to the typical “cake tasting” at Baton Rouge’s Engaging Cocktail Party. Amber Sims, cake designer, has designed a “Cake Bar” where “tasters” can try one of four fillings in addition to their single cake sample. In addition there will be an opportunity to have a more personalized cake experience with Amber where you can enhance your cake tasting experience with a more personalized touch. Brides will be given the opportunity to sit with Amber and truly create the cake of their dreams via an exclusive taste test offering the chance to mix and match cake flavors, fillings, and frostings.

This unique running program is designed to promote running as a healthy and lifelong activity. Running is an excellent way to improve strength and cardiovascular fitness, lose weight, and relieve stress. This 8-week class is designed for beginners, and our progressive method of training will ensure that everyone will be able to run 3+ miles by the end. The program culminates with everyone running in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on March 7th. Our group running environment is fun, motivating, and always entertaining. Although the class is designed for beginners it will be challenging for everyone. If you have ever wanted to learn how to run, and maybe even run a 5K, then this is the group for you.

The Cause:
We have partnered with the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and PJ’s Coffee to help raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer. Each participant will be given a fundraising packet at the beginning of the program. At the end of the class we will present our donations to the race organizers. The people that raise that raise the most money will be given awards from local businesses. Runners will also receive discounts to participating vendors.
